MICHAEL BELLO is a Cuban-American director with Broadway, off-Broadway, and regional experience. His work has been recognized by numerous awards bodies including the Ovation Awards, IRNE Awards, and NY Innovative Theater Awards. He mostly recently directed the off-Broadway production of We Are The Tigers at Theatre 80 Saint Marks, cast album now available on Broadway Records. He is the resident Associate Director for SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical (directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff), a position he held on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne, in its premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse, and on its current national tour. Other recent projects include Letters to the President, a historical song-cycle he conceived with Jessica Kahkoska, that received a developmental presentation in The Great Hall at Cooper Union and the world premiere Shooting Star: A Revealing New Musical at The Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles.
Michael’s work on new musicals has led him to directing world premieres around the country including We Are The Tigers at The Hudson Backstage Theatre, which received 3 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Award nominations including Outstanding Production of a Musical and winning for Best Music/Lyrics
