We learned of the passing of Richard L. Grubman, Jr.
Here is an excerpt from the obituary published in the NY Times:
“Richard L. Grubman Jr. of Jackson, Wyoming died suddenly on Thursday, November 14th while in a hospital in Austria. He was 57 years old. Richard, originally from New Jersey, was a nationally ranked equestrian before he attended Princeton University where he graduated A.B. summa cum laude in Art and Archaeology. He was also elected to the Phi Beta Kappa society. After starting his career in investment banking in 1984, Richard co-founded Highfields Capital Management in Boston with his partner Jonathon Jacobson in 1998 which grew to be a major international investment firm. Most recently, following his retirement in 2010, he became active in Private Equity as an advisor to numerous investment firms and young emerging companies. Richard’s not-for-profit interests include the American Academy in Rome where he served for many years as a Trustee; the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; the Boston Arts Academy where he was Chairman of the Board; Coombs Outdoor and the Bridger Teton Avalanche Center both in Jackson, Wyoming, among others. In 2014, Richard moved to Jackson, Wyoming where he was an avid skier who cherished his time in the mountains. Richard is survived by his wife, Caroline Mortimer, and his son Ellis.”
