D-E ’85

Keith Strauss | obituary | Dwight-Englewood 1985

We received the sad news that Keith Strauss passed away on April 11, 2022. Keith is predeceased by his brother Steven Strauss ’83:

“Keith Strauss was born on October 10, 1967 in Englewood, NJ to Dr. Raymond Strauss and Lois Strauss. He grew up in Englewood, and graduated from Tenafly High School in 1985. At the age of 3, Keith was given a toy piano which he played constantly, eventually starting lessons in classical piano at the age of 8. A childhood hobby became a lifelong journey in pursuit of a passion for music. Keith played keyboards in several bands over the years and wrote over 1,000 songs. Along with music, Keith’s greatest passion and favorite accomplishment was being a father to his daughter Juliana. He was an amazing dad, always encouraging Juliana to live life to the fullest, as he did. Keith spent most of his adult life living on eastern Long Island, where he started a metal recycling business. Known as the “Metal Man” many referred to him as “a real-life superhero” for recycling over 4 million pounds of metal. Keith was often described as “one of a kind” and his big smile will be remembered by all. He is survived by his daughter, Juliana and his mother Lois, along with great friends, all of whom will miss him always.”
