From Perry Palmer a summary of the 60th reunion held in September in Nantucket, MA,
“Dwight 1962 has always been a special class (and we know it!) – always quite small, we were born during the war, and we graduated 50,
with quite a few more on our list of people who had moved away or gone to boarding school. But we were always close. Some of us
from having been in a “play group” before Dwight, and 3 of us who graduated having been at Dwight for15 years! (2 years in Kindergarten and 1
in Junior First).
It was after our 35th reunion, that Bambi Constantine asked us to come back to her house in Nantucket after Labor Day, thus starting
an annual tradition! We have varied in number from 8 to 22. This year we were only 10 for our 60th, but our numbers increased
with the lovely addition of the Alumni Director Maria Sanchez Gardner ’78. Every year Judy Imperato Eyal has a “birthday party” on a Friday night. We have a present grab-bag and silly hats and all. Perry brings lobsters from Maine.
This year the party was even more amazing as D-E helped us celebrate by assisting with the lobsters (so they were bigger than usual!),
and Maria herself was there and gave us each the wonderful, bright yellow Dwight caps!
The next days are spent shopping, playing bridge, and talking, nonstop talking! And going out to dinner. Lunch is usually skipped that day
after Judy makes her incredible french toast for breakfast with Vermont maple syrup. Another highlight was the annual expedition to the Hospital Auxiliary thrift shop! (and for those who were there on Monday, a trip to the Nantucket Dump and its wonderful “Trash or Treasure” building.)
Everyone brings something to add to the mix, and the Princesses fill their roles and the Drones do theirs.
This year was extra nice – with Maria joining us and fitting right in.
