Richard Klinger | Englewood School for Boys 1954

We received the following note from Richard Klinger:

“Last week marked 5 years since my wonderful wife, Janis, died. She is still with me every day and that is such a big comfort to me. Still, I wish I could hold her hand and kiss her again. That was the last thing I did before she died. She had often said that we were two halves that made one whole, and how true that is.

She is the force behind my new project, an album of sad songs, “The Art of Grieving.” I have no financial aims for this project… I am only doing it because I think (and hope) it will help other grievers. I’ve received a great deal of encouragement and support from leaders in the field of death, dying, and grieving (doctors, therapists, educators, veteran administrators, assisted living companies and nurses, veterinarians). The sad songs hopefully will evoke tears and the release and relief that crying gives the griever. I think it is good medicine. And, I’m singing… never in a million years thought I could do that, but I found a great teacher who has helped me find a voice. It is very exciting for me, approaching my 86th birthday next month.”

Become a part of the class leadership team that works in partnership with the Alumni Relations Committee and Alumni Relations team throughout the year to promote class engagement and financial support for the School. Class Captains and Representatives (Reps) work with each other to plan milestone Reunion celebrations, share news and updates about classmates and the School, and inspire gifts to the Annual Fund.
